Mathematics is the science and study of number, quantity and space, either as abstract concepts or as applied to other disciplines such as physics and engineering. Number theory, algebra, arithmetic and geometry are the four main branches of mathematics study. Mathematical knowledge plays an important role in understanding the contents of other subjects such as, Social studies, Science, music and art etc. Statistics is a branch of applied mathematics that involves the collection, analysis, description and inference of conclusions from quantitative and qualitative data. The word Statistics is derived from the Latin work ‘status’ and it means “political state” or ‘government’. It helps to use the proper methods to collect the data, employ the correct analyses and effectively present the results.
